IQWHOIS Launches Tool for EU Residents to Remove WHOIS Data in Response to GDPR

Regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy aims to give citizens and residents control over personal data; comprehensive WHOIS database and lookup tool adds billions of historic records.

Walnut, United States - July 12, 2018 /PressCable/ —

IQWHOIS, a comprehensive WHOIS database download and lookup tool with a database that offers over 300 million current individual domain name records which are updated regularly and billions of historic domain name records, has launched a mechanism for EU residents in which they can send a request to have their WHOIS information removed from IQWHOIS’ website in response to GDPR. Additionally, IQWHOIS representatives have announced that the database has added billions of historic WHOIS records to enrich the domain WHOIS search service in a number of ways.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), and also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. Primarily, the GDPR aims to give control to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU.

“With Europe’s GDPR having come into effect this past May, the future of WHOIS is looking a little clearer,” states IQWHOIS’ Jonathan Zhang. “In terms of how this impacts WHOIS, the GDPR affects how registries and registrars list the personal information of domain name registrants in publicly-accessible WHOIS directories like ours. While registries and registrars will still be required to collect the same amount of information as they were previously, only very limited information will be made available via WHOIS, and IQWHOIS is complying with that through our tool that allows EU residents to remove their information from our database.”

In the other IQWHOIS news announcement, the comprehensive and customized database has been given a boost by way of billions of historic WHOIS records that IQWHOIS reps say enrich their offered services. As it stands, IQWHOIS boasts some five billion WHOIS records, 300 million active domain names and more than 2,864 TLDs, with the WHOIS database download offered by IQWHOIS containing relevant information regarding given domains – information that can be tailored to a specific business’ needs and easily integrated with its own services.

IQWHOIS’ database download feature provides organization names, registrant names, emails, registration addresses, registrar information, creation/expiry dates, last update dates, domain ages/availability and more.

LIVERPOOL, England — Celebrating Liverpool's stoppage-time winner by covering his left eye, Roberto Firmino was finally able to jest about the injury that nearly denied him a chance to face Paris Saint-Germain. Assurances the scratch on the cornea had cleared up only came hours before kickoff in the Champions League on Tuesday. "I can open the eye again," Firmino told Juergen Klopp, according to his manager after the 3-2 victory. Firmino still had to bide his time to play, starting on the bench and watching as Liverpool threw away a two-goal lead. Firmino had been on the pitch 11 minutes...

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed is taking nothing for granted as one of the most famous rivalries in world cricket resumes Wednesday when his team plays India in an Asia Cup group match. The United Arab Emirates has been the host venue for Pakistan in international cricket since a 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team bus. Pakistan won the last encounter between the two rivals — a huge 180-run victory over India in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. But Ahmed, who has won 18 out of 25 games as Pakistan's ODI captain,...

BRUGES, Belgium — Christian Pulisic celebrated his 20th birthday by scoring on his return from injury to give Borussia Dortmund a late 1-0 win at Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday. "It was great to come back after injury to and to be back with the team," said Pulisic, who also made his 100th appearance for the club. Porto earns 1-1 draw at Schalke in Champions League opener

Sep 19, 2018

GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany — Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Faehrmann saved one penalty but was beaten by another as Porto salvaged a 1-1 draw in their Champions League-opening game on Tuesday. Brazilian midfielder Otavio scored the equalizing penalty with 15 minutes remaining, despite complaints from the home side that Moussa Marega fell under minimal contact from Naldo. "It was a dive," said Naldo, the Schalke defender who was also at fault for the first penalty after a hand-ball in the 12th minute. However, Faehrmann guessed correctly that time, diving to the right to push Alex Telles' spot kick around the post. Schalke's Breel...

Arsenal CEO Gazidis joins Milan in soccer boardroom transfer

Sep 19, 2018

LONDON — Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is leaving to take the same role at AC Milan in a rare boardroom transfer between two leading European clubs. Gazidis has spent a decade at Arsenal, which is owned by American sports magnate Stan Kroenke. Milan, which said Gazidis will start work on Dec. 1, also has American ownership. U.S.-based hedge fund Elliott Management took over control of Milan in July after the club's former Chinese owner, Li Yonghong, missed a deadline to repay part of a loan. Because of his job switch, Gazidis must leave his positions in international football politics...
