Back in the early days of her academic career, Dr. Kay earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida in 2010 and received her Master of Science degree in Medical Science from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 2011. She graduated with her medical degree and completed her residency in pediatrics at the same educational venue in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), the doctor attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Kay has been the recipient of the Florida Alliance Scholarship Program: FAHPD-HERI Scholar (2015), Aaron Bram Endowed Book Scholarship (2015), Arnold P. Gold Foundation Gold Humanism Honor Society (2022), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Chrysalis Project Participant (2018), and Scholarly Concentration Summer Program Award (2013).
