Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Chad Lewin has been involved in a series of high-profile cases in the United States.

Los Angeles, United States - August 6, 2018 / / —

Chad Lewin, LA criminal defense lawyer, has featured heavily in news bulletins after representing clients involved in a series of cases that have captured the interest of the US TV audience. Currently he is the lead defense attorney in the alleged extortion case involving the US comedian Kevin Hart. Prominent defense attorney Lewin represents the accused, Jonathan Jackson, in the case, which hit the headlines after it was revealed that the married comedian and actor had been pictured with another woman.

Mr. Lewin has also appeared as himself in his capacity as a criminal defense attorney on the reality shows Sisterhood of Hip Hop and Growing Up Hip Hop. On Growing Up Hip Hop, Mr. Lewin has twice defended cast member Damon “Boogie” Dash II, son of Damon Dash, against driving under the influence (DUI) charges. In the first representation, Mr. Lewin was able to get the case rejected by the prosecution. In the second case, Mr. Lewin was able to get Boogie a deal for no jail time. In an episode entitled ‘Busta Crime’, the show followed the father and son duo as they met with the LA attorney in his office to discuss the DUI charges.

Chad Lewin is no stranger to defending clients who are faced with TV cameras and have their names splashed across the front covers of daily papers. In 2012, he represented Gerhard Becker in a case that was covered by crews all over the country. Mr. Becker was charged with involuntary manslaughter of a firefighter following an incident at Becker’s Hollywood Hills home, which at the time was scheduled to be the site of an upcoming season of Germany’s Next Top Model.

Mr. Lewin has also successfully defended clients in a number of other newsworthy cases. One such case was against Carlotta McCarthy, a former high school secretary who stole more than $200,000 from the school’s booster clubs. After pleading guilty to charges in Orange County, McCarthy paid back $150,000, but didn’t spend a single day behind bars. In 2013, Mr. Lewin also became the subject of media interest after defending the daughter of an LAPD officer who had killed a postal worker in a hit and run accident. Vanessa Marie Yanez could have faced up to six years in prison but instead was sentenced to two years. Mr. Lewin also represented Dr Andrew Sun in trial in Federal Court in downtown Los Angeles. Dr Sun was accused of operating a ‘pill mill’ for writing over 24,000 prescriptions in three years for no medical purpose. The prosecution wanted Dr. Sun to be sentenced to 20 years in prison, but criminal attorney Lewin was able to convince the Judge to sentence Dr. Sun to just over 5 years in prison.
