2Secure Corp, which provides a full line of cybersecurity solutions for small to medium-sized businesses, announced a new Safeguards Rule compliance service for auto dealers.
More details can be found at https://www.2secure.biz
The deadline to implement the requirements set out in the revised Safeguards Rule is December 9, 2022 – and the first step is the appointment of a cybersecurity expert as the Qualified Individual. As such, 2Secure is now working with New Jersey car dealerships to help them avoid the high costs of non-compliance.
A recent study found that businesses that do not comply with the revised Rule stand to lose close to $15 million per data breach; this is including penalties, revenue loss, and costs of business disruption. Another important risk to consider is loss of customer trust and damage to company reputation.
“Most businesses have enough issues they are obliged to comply with without having a whole new set of them imposed by the federal government,” explains a company spokesperson. “But once you have all this in place, it will give you much more confidence that your customer data is being fully protected, so you can retain the trust of all your loyal customers.”
To comply with the revised Safeguards Rule, auto dealership owners are required to appoint a Qualified Individual, which 2Secure can provide. As part of its comprehensive service, the firm will also ensure compliance with other requirements set out by the FTC. This includes conducting regular risk assessments, reporting to the board of directors or senior management, and implementing safeguards to manage risks.
As the appointed Qualified Individual, 2Secure will carry out and supervise the car dealership’s information security system. It will also review access control, assess in-house and third-party apps, and encrypt stored data.
With the new service, 2Secure Corp is helping New Jersey auto dealership address technical and procedural issues to protect personal and consumer data and avoid fines.
