Innovative tech startup SUBSUME hosts virtual showcase of Black Creativity

ATLANTA—OCT. 18, 2020— In partnership with Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and the Russell Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Atlanta technology startup SUBSUME is returning for its second year to highlight black creativity, innovation and talent across multiple industries on Saturday, October 24.
The SUBSUME SUMMIT features speakers, creators, and activists who will cover a range of topics pertaining to esports & game development, animation & comics, cryptocurrency, speculative fiction & Afrofuturism, social entrepreneurship, and community equality. This one-day, virtual event will run from 11 am – 6pm ET on a virtual platform that models a real-life convention using digital event space and custom avatars. This free event is a part of Georgia State University’s Innovation Month Program — a collaboration between Creative Media Industries Institute and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute and SUBSUME.
“We can’t keep sharecropping our dreams.” said Dedren Snead, founder of SUBSUME, who is an artist, activist and serial entrepreneur in Atlanta, Georgia. “SUBSUME is the nexus of technology, creativity, and community within the African Diaspora of story. It’s not just about being diverse in our transmedia experiences, but to be free with agency to innovate and influence our shared culture. We want to be a fixed point of freedom gazing into an infinite future.”
As one of the founding 100 Stakeholders of the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Atlanta, the tech startup SUBSUME has already found itself allied with some powerful business and creative partnerships and looks to open the conversation to Atlanta’s creative renaissance to the communities they serve. The SUBSUME SUMMIT is a template of an engaging series of meetups in Atlanta throughout 2021 to showcase creative talents and emerging ideas within the Atlanta Creative Community.
